The FORGE is a concept I developed for my Design Practice class.

This assignment focused on creating a healing space, designing the whole experience and its space.

I wanted to express the idea that healing isn’t just about comfort; it’s about overcoming discomfort, building strength, and fostering resilience. The ritual of alternating hot and cold temperatures plays a key role in this process, creating a physical experience that opens a portal for the mind to understand how challenges in life can be approached the same way.

The chosen location is the Tyndall Range in Tasmania; a wild, untamed part of the world known for its extreme and ever-changing weather conditions. This unpredictable environment is precisely what makes it beautiful and fitting for the concept. Every design choice, from materials to the floor plan reflects the cyclical nature of healing, guiding users through different stages of the process while framing breath taking views of the landscape.

A special thanks to Grant Dickson for his stunning photograph of Lake Huntley, which perfectly captures the essence of this remote and powerful setting.
